Peace and Security, sine qua non, without which nothing, we cannot have one without the other.
I spent over three decades working in humanitarian programmes, specifically assuring far-flung communities in developing countries have access to clean drinking water. I have seen first hand the tremendous impact of lack of access to water on people’s lives – girls’ education, women’s workload, poverty levels. In addition, I have seen drinking water politicised and used as socioeconomic leverage on poor communities.
In this era of war and terrorism, peace and security issues become more real.
Peace and security – sine qua non , without which nothing. We must work together to achieve it, keeping possibility alive.
